Chris Mallett, originally from Portsmouth, emigrated to Los Angeles, where he was responsible for Salvation Army musicians. In 2000 he sadly passed away but left a legacy of attractive singable songs. This song is used quite widely in the Christian church and has featured on Songs of Praise a few times, and is an upbeat setting of Fanny Crosby's text, with a call-and-response ‘Praise the Lord’ at the beginning of the chorus to an oom-pah accompaniment.
