An arrangement of the famous Jewel Song from Gounod’s grand opera Faust for soprano and band. Faust, a grand opera composed by the French composer Charles-Francois Gounod was first performed in 1859 but was not well received at first. It eventually became a highly popular opera but that popularity waned in the second half of the twentieth century, partly because of the cost of mounting productions. However, the Jewel Song remains a favourite showpiece for sopranos. This arrangement was featured on the RAF Massed Bands Tour 1996 and recorded on Festival of Music 1996 Polyphonic QPRM 125D.
