The Irish poet Thomas Moore wrote the poem The Last Rose of Summer in 1805. It was set to music by Sir John Stevenson and the song first appeared in published form in 1813 in A Section of Irish Melodies. This arrangement was programmed in the RAF Massed Bands Tour 1996 and recorded on Festival of Music 1996 Polyphonic QPRM 125D.
