Inspired by the great mambos of Spanish Harlem, here's a catchy tune with a danceable groove. The 3-chord solo section is accessible by developing improvisors and feels great for experienced players. This arrangement is based on the jazz ensemble piece Mambo Over the Mountain recorded by Rick Hirsch's Big Ol' Band (as excerpted above). As part of the combo-flex series, this chart works with many combinations of horn players, and with as few as 1 horn + rhythm section.
