The Elastic Band Series is musical training material; simple pieces not just exercises.
Each work can be played by as few as five Wind or Brass Players (2 Treble, 1 Alto, 1 Tenor, 1 Bass) and two Percussion. Any number and variety of wind instruments can participate. The series is published with Full Scores in C as well as showing all transposed modes.
Any number and and variety of wind and brass instruments can participate: a woodwind group, a brass group, a wind band, a brass band, or any mixture of these providing that the 5 basics parts are covered.
The score in C (the top 3 staves) is designed so that it is playable on the piano for rehearsal purposes, or to cover any missing parts.
Treble 1A is optional. The score in C shows this part in cue-size notation to facilitate piano usage.
Where no instrument is playing Treble 1A, then Treble 1 should play all cues.
The Alto part in C is shown on the score, but no part is issued (transposed parts in Bb, Eb and F are published)
Where the Bass part in C is considered too high for the Tuba, then these parts are written with an octave option. This option is not always shown on the score.
