These four, light-hearted pieces are written with unusual time signatures and although quite difficult to play, the composer hopes they are quite easy to listen to! A gentle Serenade (in 5 time) is followed by a tongue-in-cheek Music Hall style comic number (in 7). Music in 9 time is usually played in 3 lots of 3, but here most of it is 2+2+2+3 and the set finishes with a waltz - a waltz with a missing beat, that would be difficult to dance to!
