Quartet for 3 Bb Clarinets and Bass Clarinet. Chris Holmes lives in Salisbury and is a former South Division Head of the Wiltshire Music Services from 1987 to 2005. He was also the founder of the Salisbury Area Young Musicians which had 4 Winds Bands, 2 Big Bands, 3 String Orchestras, a Symphony Orchestra and 2 choirs. He also started the Salisbury Concert Band which he continues to conduct to this day.
His Suite for Four Clarinets is formed of four light-hearted movements each of which depicts certain characteristics of the original members of the quartet for whom it was composed. The movements can be used in isolation or the whole suite can be performed to make a more substantial item in a programme.
