The Miraculous Violin is not strictly programmatic but draws upon ideas from the folk fiddle tradition. The soloist is cast in the role of the storyteller in this eccentric Grimm tale. The work is in one continuous movement showing off the many colours of which the soloist and string orchestra are capable.
