Transcribed from Ted Heath's Vocalion CDLK 4309 recording, the Alamo is a moderately slow swing chart featuring both solo Trombone and the Trombone section in the opening melodic statement, plus a lovely sax sectional in the middle of the chart. The textures and harmonic structures contained within this arrangement are just sublime, and it is a joy to play and listen to. This is essentially the Tommy Dorsey version of the chart, reproduced by the Heath band. Saxes are scored for a regular AATTB section and the 4th Trombone is a Bass. Grade: Medium Duration: 3:30
