Down By The Old Mill Stream was written in 1908 by Tell Taylor, and this song has over the years become a bit of a stock standard for barbershop quartets. Benny Goodman recorded this up-tempo, hard swinging version of the tune in 1939 and it makes for a great dance chart. Trombones and Saxes share the melody honours in the first chorus, the Clarinet takes centre stage for the second, Alto and Trumpet feature in the third and the whole band rips for the shout. In this last chorus all reeds are required to double Clarinet. However, we have printed the AATT parts double-sided, with "no doubling required" alternate parts on the reverse. The Alto 1 and Trumpet 1 solos are written out in full, with chords provided. Another "must have" for the Benny Goodman lovers. Grade: Medium Duration: 2:35
