Record Session is a well-crafted medium tempo swing chart from the pen of Trumpeter Gray Rains, written for the Harry James band of the early 40's. The chart features the Trumpet section and Drums, plus HJ's Trumpet solo (written out in full on the Trumpet 2 part or improvised from the chords provided). The ensemble passages are straightforward, robust and rich. The Trumpet section solis are equally tight, though the unison passages at the end of the chart will need good intonation from your section in order to sound crisp. There are no sax doubles.
