As performed by Glenn Miller. The GMO recorded this chart in July 1942 Victor 20-1509-B, as the B-side to Juke Box Saturday Night. The original arrangement is credited to George Williams who also arranged extensively for Lunceford, Krupa and Ray Anthony. Sleepy Town Train makes much use of a repeating riff phrase as its central motif, and is coloured with solos from Trumpet 2, Alto and Tenor 1. We have written all of the original solos out in full, 'as-played'. This chart is full of dynamic contrast, with much waving of hats (or plungers) in the brass, so could be a visual showcase for your band too. The brass ranges are moderate and there are no sax doubles.
