Information

You Turned The Tables On Me was recorded by Benny Goodman in 1936, with Helen Ward taking the vocal chorus. The arrangement was originally written for CAATT and 5 Brass. We have adapted the chart to suit a full 5444 line-up, with the Clarinet solo taken by Alto 2. The structure of the chart is reasonably straightforward. After a short (4 measure) intro the melody lines in the first chorus (in the key of F) are shared between Clarinet and reeds. The brass joins in for the last 8 measures. A brief 4 measure modulation leads to the (Db) vocal chorus, backed by muted brass and reeds. The chart rounds off with a snap modulation to Bb, led by unison Trumpets, with a final four bar ensemble to close things out. This is a joyous little chart and a must for lovers of Benny Goodman. Alto 2 doubles Clarinet and the vocal key is Db.
