A modern take on the biblical story of the road to Emmaus, by Arch Wiggins, has been given a simple homophonic treatment by George Marshall. The verses have a short section with richer harmonies for three upper voices, and then the chorus deals in simple 4-part chords with the words of the song title: ‘Jesus himself drew near’.
