First Nation portrays the expansive American landscape in a time before European settlement. Through-composed structure and set in a distinctive minor mood. Based on Rick Hirsch’s jazz ensemble chart “The Old Chief’s Lookout.” Contemporary flavor, accessible for improvisation. Scored for 3 horns & rhythm, includes mix-and-match horn parts for all saxophones, flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, and French horn. Rhythm section parts are notated as needed.
