Made famous by the Woody Herman Thundering Herd, here is a marvellous adaptation for younger players by Paul Murtha. Following the opening chorus for piano, the trumpets state the main theme with answers from the trombones and a countre-line in the saxes. The solo section is flexible for any player, but sample solos are provided for trumpet and alto sax. The final ensemble chorus starts softly and builds to a climactic ending - with plenty of attitude!
