This ballad was written by Freddie Mercury and recorded and performed by Queen for their 1977 album "News of the World". It has since become a popular anthem for football supporters and for other sporting victories. In the last section of this arrangement the strings attempt to slip into a style more reminiscent of Antonio Vivaldi than Freddie Mercury - this however is entirely appropriate as it is, of course, a well-known fact that Vivaldi was an ardent football fan regularly attending SSC Venezia matches and, no doubt, picking up a Four Seasons takeaway pizza on the way home!
Useful for lighter concerts or as an unexpected encore after something more serious, perhaps!
