The oeuvre of female French composer and pianist Cecile Chaminade (1857-1944) mainly consists of character pieces for piano as well as salon songs; she also wrote a small number of orchestral works, a comic opera and a ballet. Her best-known work may well be the Concertino opus 107, a piece that is part of many a flutist’s repertoire. The five pieces featured in this collection, short piano works for the young pianist, have been taken from her Album des enfants. In adapting the music for brass quartet, the arranger has tried to stay as close to the original piece as possible.
