In Satoshi Yagisawas Saxophone Concertino the solo instrument is integrated with the accompaniment, rather than being separate. The romantic-sounding solo chorale in the first half of the work sounds wonderful on the alto saxophone. A lively allegrois heard in the second movement, referencing music of the baroque era, with the solo now played on the soprano saxophone but by the same soloist.
