This joyous jazz waltz is one of the very few big band Chanukah arrangements. It's a set of swinging variations on the hymn-like Ma'oz Tzur (Rock of Ages). Almost every player gets a short written solo, and your tenor and trombone soloists will get to stretch out. You may hear echoes of Bob Mintzer, an important mentor to arranger Rick Hirsch.
