Festive Winds begins with a short introduction before we hear a light, airy and fresh-sounding passage. The original character of this march is above all in the trio, which conjures up the sounds of a big band with its bluesy style. The work was commissioned by the Société Cantonale des Musiques Vaudise to celebrate the 27th festival of the French canton of Vaudois in Savigny, Switzerland, where the march was given its première by a mass ensemble.
