Based on a theme by Franz Schubert, Robert W. Smith's setting of this traditional African-American hymn is simple, elegant and beautiful. Lyrical, flowing lines provide a welcome opportunity to teach and reinforce phrasing; a unique teaching opportunity for the very beginning orchestra. Orchestra Bells and Suspended Cymbal parts included. "Sanctus" is a welcome addition to the developing strings repertoire and suitable for performance by strings at multiple levels.
