Rapsodia Borealis is composed in a circular structure centered around a truly lyrical Cantabile theme, a song of the North for trombone. The trombone part, despite being complex, is in many places extremely melodic and even at one stage takes the lead in a tuneful hymn tune. It also touches on a semidissonant kaleidoscopic carousel and minimalism in the accompaniment. This challenging work is a welcome addition to the modern repertoire for trombone. It is also available for trombone and concert band. Duration: 16.15
