This arrangement is based on Sergei Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini Opus 43. The lyrical theme is from Paganini's 24th Caprice for Vilin and is well know by all violinists. Rachmaninoff first performed the Rhapsody with the Philharmonic Orchestra and Leopold Stokowski conducting in 1934. The original work features the piano as a virtuoso instrument with orchestra.
