Jean Joseph Mouret began life inauspiciously with birth in an insane asylum in France in 1682, but by the time of his death in 1738 had become a towering figure in the world of music. The music of Mouret is consistently majestic, aristocratic, and dynamic. One of his most famous works in this Rondeau from his Suite des Symphonies Number One. Many will recognise this pieces as the theme from the television series Masterpiece Theatre.
