Timothy Blinko was born in Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire, in 1965. He studied composition at the Royal College of Music with Justin Connolly, Joseph Horovitz and Jeremy Dale Roberts, where he also gained a B. Mus (Hons). At the Royal College he won four composition prizes and received numerous performances; and in 1986 was awarded the PRS Sir Arthur Bliss Scholarship. His output reflects his interest in jazz harmony and traditional structures on the one hand, and the wish to refine an individual style based on his own harmonic principle on the other. This approach represents a strong desire to remain open to all artistic inclinations.
