Harmonized Rhythms is dedicated to the progressive and systematic study of rhythms in a totally melodic and harmonized format. The primary focus of Harmonized Rhythms is to teach rhythmic precision through the performance of 45 progressive four-part harmonized melodies. Each part book has the melody plus one, two, or three harmony parts which are rhythmically independent of the melody and each other. The aim is to foster rhythmic independence and develop mental pulse within each student. Additionally, to establish a clear understanding of pulses (sub-division) and their importance to the beat and beat length. By exploring duple and triple meters, string players will become strong rhythmic sight-readers. This will maximize valuable rehearsal time as students become responsible for playing correct rhythms and with precision. American Grade 1
