In Greek mythology, Hermes plays many roles. Marc Jeanbourquin set the various tasks of this legendary gure to music in a compelling concert work. In the first movement we see Hermes as the son of Zeus and messenger of the gods. In the mysterious sounding second movement Hermes is depicted accompanying people's souls into the afterlife, and in the third movement we see him in yet another guise: as the god of thieves. 08:20
