Forgotten World pays homage to a former conductor of the orchestra that commissioned this work. It also happens to be the same orchestra that composer Kevin Houben gained some of his early experience in as a conductor. This connection ties together the alternating serious and up-beat passages. The main theme contains modern idioms while the jovial passages remind everyone to maintain a healthy balance between work and play.
