The exotic title of this work refers to its recognisable oriental character. The thematic material is consequently based on melodic and rhythmic characteristics of eastern origin. The three-part saxophone instrumentation is stylishly accompanied by the rest of the band, thus the composer reflects the intended eastern atmosphere in Saxoriëntale in an effective way.
